Norseman is a small town located in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia. It located along the Coolgardie-Esperance Highway, some 725 kilometres east of the capital city of Western Australia, Perth and 278 metres above sea level. Norseman is also the starting point of the Eyre Highway, and the last major town in Western Australia before the South Australian border, being located app. 720 kilometres to the east. At the 2006 census, Norseman had a population of less than 1000 persons. Norseman is considered the gateway to the Nullarbor Plain and is the first Western Australian town that travellers taking the long journey from South Australia will encounter.
